Ride Safe USA Safety Tip: According to NHTSA’s National Center for Statistics and Analysis, Helmet Use and Effectiveness suggests that helmet use saved the lives of 1,859 motorcyclists in 2016. If all motorcyclists had worn helmets, an additional 802 lives could have been saved. Helmets are estimated to be 37-percent effective in preventing fatal injuries to motorcycle riders, and 41 percent for motorcycle passengers. In other words, for every 100 motorcycle riders killed in crashes while not wearing helmets, 37 of them could have been saved had all 100 worn helmets.
When you attend a motorcycle driving course, it is made clear that proper gear (ATGAT) “All The Gear All The Time” is the best decision one can make to keep safe while riding. Before you get on the road, take some motorcycle driving lessons and get your motorcycle license at the same time.
